Getting stronger and fitter is much like getting a sun tan
You need little bits of exposure which stress the body to a point where it creates an adaptation to the stimulus.
If you expose yourself to excessive UV, spend too long in the sun and go too aggressive, you’ll get burnt. ☀️ 🤕
If you you don’t go in the sun enough, you’ll stay pasty and white. 👻
Each person has a subjective tolerance based on their previous exposure and environmental context.
Much like lifting weights and doing conditioning.
You must push the tolerance enough to make a change, but not too much that it results in a negative result.
My biggest advice to newbies and people coming back from extended breaks, is to not try and undo the years of accumulated negative behaviour in 1 week.
It’s a process!
Take your time and do the work!
The aggregation of marginal gains will be on your side if you are willing to make long lasting habits
